El aumento de la integración y el uso de las tecnologías digitales en nuestra vida cotidiana está transformando rápidamente la forma en que funcionan nuestras sociedades y economías. Sin embargo, para garantizar la sostenibilidad de este cambio, es necesario una transformación similar a nivel gubernamental para garantizar que las necesidades de los ciudadanos y las expectativas se cumplan continuamente. Por lo tanto, la transformación digital de los gobiernos sigue siendo uno de los objetivos más difíciles para la Unión Europea y una prioridad para todos los Estados miembros. El papel del gobierno digital se ha vuelto aún más crucial a raíz de la pandemia COVID-19.
