El informe señala que Europa ha alcanzado niveles récord de inversión en telecomunicaciones, al tiempo que avanza tanto en el desarrollo de redes 5G como en la cobertura de fibra óptica. A pesar de ello, la Unión Europea corre el riesgo de quedarse un 10% por debajo de su objetivo de ‘gigabit para todos en 2030’. Las principales conclusiones del informe son las siguientes. 1) Aumenta la cobertura en 5G y FTTH, pero los objetivos de gigabits y la competitividad global siguen en peligro. 2) En materia de innovación en telecomunicaciones los temas destacados son edge cloud, 5G standalone y Open RAN. 3) Los fundamentales del sector siguen siendo débiles y suponen un desafío industrial para Europa. 4) En materia de sostenibilidad, los retos son menos emisiones y un cambio hacia redes más ecológicas. |
