According to the Climate Leadership in the Eleventh Hour document - which includes extensive interviews with more than 100 leading CEOs - the private sector is struggling to accelerate its climate ambitions, despite nearly three-quarters (73%) saying they feel a growing pressure to act. More than half (57%) of the executives surveyed say they are prioritizing climate action amid their recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

49% of CEOs point to supply chain disruptions due to extreme weather conditions as a top risk, but only 7% say they are 'advanced' in creating early warning systems to prepare for events climate risk. Additionally, 71% claim to be actively working on developing a net zero emissions target for their company and 57% believe they are operating in line with the 1.5 ° C target. However, only 2% of these companies have a formal target validated by the Science-Based Targets initiative.
