520 _aThe efficient implementation of social protection systems, and particularly social cash transfers, requires new digital tools that facilitate the efficient selection and enrolment of beneficiaries and the targeted and transparent delivery of funds. Effective methods of verifying beneficiary identities are essential to these processes; however, several issues are likely to hinder this. This case study highlights opportunities for mobile-enabled identification services to benefit social cash transfer programmes.
