| Summary, etc. | Este Documento de Trabajo de Personal (SWD), que se basa en una serie de estudios y consultas organizados durante los últimos 4 años, forma parte del paquete de modernización de tecnologías y servicios públicos de DSM. Acompaña la Comunicación "Digitalización de la industria europea - Obtener los beneficios de un mercado único digital" (en breve Comunicación de digitalización). Este último exige acciones en consonancia con la Estrategia DSM para maximizar los beneficios que la innovación digital puede aportar a la economía europea y permitir un crecimiento más rápido de la economía digital. El paquete de modernización de las tecnologías y los servicios públicos de DSM también incluye la Comunicación "Prioridades para la normalización de las TIC para el mercado único digital" (en breve Comunicación de normalización). Varias de las acciones descritas en la Comunicación de Digitalización y en la Comunicación de Normalización se refieren directamente a IOT. Este SWD también se relaciona con iniciativas ya anunciadas en la Estrategia de DSM, en particular la Revisión de Telecomunicaciones y la iniciativa Free Flow of Data. |

| Summary, etc. | This Staff Working Document (SWD), which builds on a series of studies and consultations organised over the past 4 years2, is part of the DSM technologies and public services modernisation package. It accompanies the Communication "Digitising European Industry – Reaping the full benefits of a Digital Single Market" (in short Digitisation Communication). The latter calls for actions in line with the DSM Strategy to maximise the benefits that digital innovation can bring to European economy, and to allow faster business growth in the digital economy. The DSM technologies and public services modernisation package also includes the Communication "Priorities for ICT Standardisation for the Digital Single Market" (in short Standardisation Communication). Several of the actions outlined in the Digitisation Communication and in the Standardisation Communication concern IoT directly. This SWD is also related to initiatives already announced in the DSM Strategy, notably the Telecoms Review and the Free Flow of Data initiative. |
