Si bien es cierto que la protección de la privacidad y de los datos personales ha recibido la mayor atención, se espera que otras cuestiones importantes relacionadas con los datos figuren en la agenda política de la Unión Europea. Estos incluyen principios de 'propiedad de datos' que determinan quiénes comparten los derechos asociados con los grandes datos; los requisitos de localización de datos que puedan interferir injustificadamente con el 'libre flujo de datos'; escasez de mano de obra calificada de trabajadores de datos y gestores informados; y la creación de una nueva brecha digital que corre el riesgo de marginar a quienes no hacen un uso extensivo de las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación |

Whilst protecting privacy and personal data has arguably received the most attention, other big-data-related issues are expected to appear on the European Union policy agenda. These include 'data ownership' principles that determine who shares in the rights associated with big data; data localisation requirements that may unjustifiably interfere with the 'free flow of data'; labour shortages of skilled data workers and data-aware managers; and the creation of a new digital divide that risks marginalising those who do not make extensive use of information and communication technologies |
